SCHUMANN’S FRAUENLIEBE, REIMAGINED

In this unique recital, singer Claire Booth, classical pianist Alisdair Hogarth and jazz piano super star Jason Rebello bring their unique artistic skills and experience to bear on the frontiers between Jazz and Classical Music. Having long been fascinated by the intersection between different areas of music, the programme explores Schumann’s pivotal song cycle, Frauenliebe und Leben, reinterpreting this work through a prism of musical styles, combining and contrasting both new and existing harmonies which further both the emotional journey and musical landscape. At times the vocal lines remain in tact and the piano part is recomposed and reharmonised, and at other times all components are challenged and presented with a fresh and alternative take on the original.
